9-9 Birthday Miracles! August 14, 2017

Hi everybody! First off, it's true! It does rain a lot here in Washington! On Friday, we had a mission wide 9-9 knocking day. President Leishman felt that it was needed, so our mission spent the whole day going door-to-door sharing the Gospel from 9am-9pm. It just so happened that Sister Codling's birthday was that day too! You better believe that I sang Happy Birthday to her every hour. We ended up walking over 10 miles and only took 2 small breaks to sit down on a curb and eat some food. For dinner, a member dropped some food off on the side of the road for us, and unfortunately they forgot to bring us utensils as well, and we were nowhere near any stores or anything. So we sat down on a curb and ate our salad and mac n cheese with our hands. Never have I felt more homeless in my life. Haha. Every hour, our zone would send good jokes and mission raps to each other so it definitely gave us something to look forward to and some good laughs. Throughout the entire day, Sister Codling and I prayed for miracles to happen. But door after door, everyone seemed to be extra salty! We only found a few people that were somewhat interested in continuing to hear the Gospel, but we had the Faith to keep going throughout the day. Unfortunately at the end of the night, no big miracles had happened which left us discouraged. We had worked so hard and our bodies (especially our feet) were wrecked. I also felt bad for Sister Codling because it was her birthday and we were hoping for some special birthday miracles! The next day on Saturday, we received a referral on mormon.org of a guy named KC that had referred himself to have missionaries come over! We went over and had a lesson with him on the Restoration. He was SO prepared, willing to learn, and had faith in everything that we taught him. He told us that he wanted to be baptized and would do whatever it takes to prepare himself. He's seriously the golden investigator and is preparing to be baptized in September. #9to9miraclesadaylate Then right after, we went and visited the Crowley family. We knocked into them a few days earlier, but were busy eating dinner and told us that we could come back another time. They are so awesome! When we visited them, they were super open and willing to learn. They have a 10 and 12 year old boy and a 6 year old girl! They committed to coming to church next week and reading the Book of Mormon. They also want to start coming to Scouts and Young mens. #9to9miraclesadaylate We had another lesson with Fono! We talked to him about baptism and read through 2 Nephi 31 with him. He shared some great experiences about how he's felt the spirit in his life and how he feels when he comes to church. He's praying about a baptismal date and we have another lesson with him scheduled soon! #9to9miracles The thing that I learned most about the week is that obedience brings blessings in God's perfect time. Even though we received no direct miracles for our long hard day of knocking, God placed indirect miracles in our life because of our obedience to Him. I know that God has hand in every single aspect of our lives!
