Hi fam! It's so crazy to think that I've been out longer than a month now! This week has been very busy and full of a lot of growth. I love it here!
Everyone has been asking me about the rain here in Washington. Plot twist, it has been sunny, humid, and 100 degrees! It honestly has not rained once since I've been here so the rain must be a myth or something. I'm seriously dying in this heat.
I've mentioned before that my favorite part about Washington is the people. Everyday for a few hours, we go door-to-door sharing the gospel with people. It's definitely been one of the things I hate, but love the most. I've never had so many doors slammed in my face and rude remarks made straight to me. But all of that is so worth it because of the wonderful people that I get to meet! I've met people from just about everywhere in the world including Guam, Samoa, Phillipines, Mexico, Africa, and Hawaii. Ah I've loved it! Everyone has such cool and unique stories and it makes it even better when they are open to hearing the gospel.
Also I forgot to mention this, but Bremerton is home to a Navy shipyard. So about 70% of the people here are somehow affiliated with the Navy. They make me proud to be an American.
This week was Paige Bergman's 11th birthday! We got to go over for both of her birthday parties this week and it was so fun! Their family has seriously become my family away from home and I would seriously love more than anything for them to become converted and be baptized. I'm happy to say that their family is progressing! Paige is coming to activity days this week and a few of them are planning on coming to church this next week. Please keep praying for them! They're an amazing family and they deserve the joy of the gospel more than anyone.
Another one of my favorite investigators is Fono. He's an old Samoan guy and so funny! He's been coming to church for a while now and has taken the missionary lessons quite a few times. His only problem is that he has a smoking addiction. Please pray for him to be able to overcome it!
Thank you for all the prayers!
Tender mercy of the week: Every time I began feeling a little discouraged this week, someone would feed me pie. Anyone that knows me knows that the quickest way to my heart is pie and that I have a strong belief that pie fixes everything! I honestly felt that it was God's way of telling me that I can do it and that He's cheering me on!
This week President Leishman has really been emphasizing that Attitude=Altitude. I've been working hard this week on having a good optimistic attitude about everything. It has helped so much and I've been able to accomplish so much more! I came across a quote this week from Helen Keller that says "Keep your face towards the sunshine and the shadows will fall behind you." This is so true! When I'm knocking doors and someone slams the door in my face, it doesn't even matter if I remain focused on the people that I can serve. I challenge you all to look towards the sunshine this week because it will bring you so much strength and power.
Love you all!
