Mission Tour - September 13, 2017

Hi fam! The reason I'm emailing today is because Elder De Hoyos came to speak to our mission this week! It was amazing and I feel so lucky that I was able to meet him! He really emphasized throughout all the meetings the importance of member missionary work and constantly seeking for referrals. So this week, we're going to work especially hard with the members! With the new transfer happening, our district pianist was transferred which left us with nobody that can play the piano. So I've become the pianist! Haha. I currently only know 4 Hymns so please pray for me and my ability to keep learning how to play. This week we received an unfortunate call. Our investigator Gregory that has been preparing for baptism on Oct. 1st called and expressed how much he appreciated the Gospel Principles lesson on Honesty. Because of the lesson, he wanted to be honest and told us about how he talked to his friend that's a Catholic minister. He told his friend that he had been investigating our church and his friend got really upset at him and told him some awful things about our church. Gregory decided that he was going to be Catholic, but agreed to meet with us again. As I was preparing in my personal study to meet with him again, I felt incredibly prompted to share certain things about the Restoration of the Gospel with him. Joseph Smith was in an almost identical situation as him with investigating several different churches and we were able to invite Gregory to ask God which church he should join, just as Joseph did. It was the coolest lesson and we were able to have several members come with us! After the lesson, Gregory agreed to keep studying the Book of Mormon, coming to church, and having lessons with us. KC was baptized in Oregon on Sunday!! His girlfriend kept us very updated and said that it was such a special experience. All of their family was there! She said that the spirit was so strong and that everyone was crying. So cool! William is continuing to try to get his dad's permission to be baptized. I would appreciate it if you could continue to pray for him and for his dad's heart to be softened! This week was such a great week and I was able to help with another person's flower garden! Yay flowers! I love you all so much! This gospel is so true! And in the wise words of Bishop Hill referring to the Book of Mormon, "Plates before mates."
