Hello hello!
Great news, transfer calls came and both Sister Pullins and I are staying in the blessed Mountain View ward. I just feel so grateful to be here because it really is a land of happiness and miracles despite the fact that we're in the middle of nowhere!
This week we made it a goal to invite everyone and their 500 dogs to be baptized. Whenever we went knocking doors, we would invite every person to be baptized on their doorstep. There's seriously nothing more exhilarating than walking through a forest of coyotes and wild animals in the pouring rain late at night and knocking on someone's door to invite them to be baptized. Nothing better.
We had another awesome lesson with Rodney! We read through 2 Nephi 31 with him about why Christ was baptized and the importance of baptism. He loves the Bible and was amazed at how well everything in the Book of Mormon corresponds to the Bible. We invited him to be baptized and he said that he would definitely take it into consideration! We also learned that he went to prison for 8 years and while he was there, he attended the Mormon church and read through the whole Book of Mormon! He's a cool guy.
This week we also had an amazing lesson with Ed! And great news, he picked a specific date to be baptized! December 14th!! I really wish I could explain the change that I've witnessed in Ed's life. When I met him he was in a dark sad place, and now he's probably the happiest person I know! The gospel is just so happy and in Ed's words "How could it not be true?"
Yesterday the missionaries in the southern part of the mission put on a fireside where some recent converts spoke and the missionaries sang. Sister Pullins and I were in charge of finding a recent convert to speak and last minute, our recent convert fell down the stairs and had to bail! So we had about 15 minutes to find someone else to speak and just as we were leaving to go find someone, one of our recent converts Randy Wilson randomly appeared in the hall. Still not sure what he was doing there or how we ran into him. But we asked him to speak and he said that he would love to! Ed and a lot of our investigators were able to come to the fireside. It was amazing and the spirit was so strong! Ed told us that he felt that what Randy was saying was meant for him to hear and that it was the happiest night.
Thanksgiving was the greatest day! In the morning, we went out to breakfast with our Zone and had a turkey bowl football game. Then I obviously made a few homemade pumpkin pies (typical Sister Peterson). And then we ate lots of good food throughout the day at member's houses! I'm sad to say that I completely lost the competition to see who could gain the most weight in our Zone. My results were a half pound. After all the eating, we came home and set up our Christmas tree and decorated our apartment!
On Saturday, we spent the whole day doing service and bringing around cookies and nice notes to everyone. I've always believed that the quickest way to someone's heart is through their stomach and Saturday was evidence of that! So many small miracles happened and we were able to regain contact with a lot of our investigators that we've previously lost contact with.
I love you all!! I invite you each to check out the #lighttheworld campaign and follow along with that!
