The Will of God - October 1, 2018

Hey everyone! This week we experienced some of the highest of highs and lowest of lows. #missionarylife. I'm grateful for these experiences, because ultimately the good outweighs the bad and it brought me closer to my Savior. On Tuesday, we received a random phone call from a less active member. Immediately when I answered he said "Write down this address right now." So I copied down what he told me. Then he told us to go see this woman because she's interested in learning about the church and families. We scheduled a return appointment and the next day went to go see her. When we knocked on her door, she was so excited to see us! She welcomed us in and was so loving. Her name is Debbie, she's in her late 50's, and lives by herself. She is the sweetest and we made an immediate connection. Debbie talked about how she had recently been church hopping, searching for the truth, but all the churches that she had gone to felt cold. She mentioned how she's ready to settle down in the correct church and ready to find a church home. Debbie had such sincere questions and was so humble and ready to learn. She's so elect and is now preparing for baptism! I love her! On Tuesday, us and Macey were able to spend a few hours on a therapeutic horse ranch doing service! It was so beautiful and I'm so grateful for the opportunity. On Friday, Sister Hutchings and I woke up feeling zonked! Seriously, the most exhausted I've felt on my mission. But we kept on pushing and being diligent throughout the day. And we saw SO many miracles!! We met some incredible people and had many situations where we were somehow in the right place at the right time. I want to echo what the Prophet says by saying that I know that the Lord loves efforts and blesses our best efforts! On Saturday, Hailey was baptized!!! It was such an incredible experience and the spirit was SO strong. She was so happy and so excited! Her family was even able to come and support! She had so many people at her baptism that love her so much (: On Sunday, Hailey was sick and wasn't able to make it to her confirmation. During our 5th hour of church, we received an urgent text from her mom Kim asking us to come over so that she could talk to us. When we got there, she was super tense and told us that she was rethinking everything. It turns out that after Hailey's baptism, she went home and was searching the internet and got a hold of lots of anti material. We were able to sit and talk to her and answer the questions and concerns that she had. Eventually the conversation turned very spiritual and there was a huge sense of peace. Kim became very calm and opened up to us about a lot of personal things. She even bore her testimony to us on how much of a blessing the church has been to Hailey and her family. It was so powerful! By the end of our 1 hour and 45 minute talk, she said that she would like Hailey to hold off on her confirmation for a while, but to keep them in the loop about things. This was such a hard experience and one of the lowest, sad times of my mission. But I do know that God is very aware of Hailey and her family and that all things happen in God's timing. Sunday night, we got to go to the missionary fireside in North Tacoma with our investigator Michael and Macey. It really raised my spirits and I was able to see so many of my favorite people! I felt the greatest amount of peace and comfort and I'm just so grateful for the Atonement. I love you all! Have the best week and enjoy Conference! Here's a video that we showed Kim that I've been thinking a lot about this week: https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2012-01-014-the-will-of-god?lang=eng
