Zoo Animals - July 22, 2017

Hi friends! This week was another amazing week in the MTC. Crazy news! I'm leaving to Washington on Tuesday at 3:45am. It will definitely be bittersweet because I've grown to really love my district, companion, teachers, and investigators. But I'm so very excited to get out and serve the people in Washington! So this last Sunday, we received the awful news that we will no longer be able to play volleyball in the MTC due to the open house tours. Our district was completely heartbroken. But, it was a blessing in disguise because I found my new true love... four square!! Let me tell you, it's changed my life and makes me just as happy as volleyball does (crazy, I know). Thunder and lightning are back at it! Speaking of the open house tours, I would definitely recommend coming! The new buildings are beautiful and have the prettiest murals throughout the buildings. The most spiritual lessons we've taught have been when we walk our investigators through the paintings of Christ and explain the stories of Him. You may be wondering what the topic of my email even means so let me explain... Every time there are tours throughout the MTC, we feel like zoo animals on exhibit because they show everyone where we eat, sleep, learn, exercise, etc. and watch us while we're doing it! So if you ever want to experience some good people watching, come tour the MTC missionary zoo. On Tuesday, we had a devotional by a general authority. He taught us 5 core principles to being a good missionary that I want to share because it can apply to all of us! 1- Be in alignment with righteousness 2- Serve without recognition. 3- Be responsible and anxiously engaged 4- Build trust and respect in relationships 5- Be open to continuous learning. I challenge each of you to pick one of these 5 core principles and work on it throughout the week! It's already made a huge difference in my life. This week has been very busy for Sister Hutchings and I! We've been teaching about 4 different investigators a day, going to several hours of class, playing four square, and loving every minute of each day! Thank you everyone for your support! The MTC has changed my life and I'll never forget all of the lifelong friends and experiences that I've had here. I've been able to witness so many miracles and I know that God plays a role in every aspect of our lives. I will miss the MTC, but can not wait to serve my Heavenly Father and the people of Washington. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!
