Reunited with Hutch and It Feels So Good! - August 6, 2018

Hi fam! To start off, we received our transfer calls! It looks like your favorite twins are being separated :/ I'm heading to Olympia to be with all the free spirits and liberals. And even better, I'm gonna be with Sister Hutchings (my mtc comp that I absolutely love)! We've been praying since the day we met that we would one day be companions again. The power of prayer is real! We'll be covering two wards, a family ward and a ysa ward. We're excited! This week was difficult saying goodbye to two of my companions that I trained. They've become my very best friends and unfortunately, they've both been having health problems and are having to go home early to tend to those health problems. Please pray for them! Here's a cool story that will blow your mind: About 2 weeks ago, two Russians showed up to church, but they speak little to no English and so we found someone who served their mission there who could talk to them and started learning more. It turns out, our Russian friends Svetlana and Andre had been being taught by missionaries in Russia and came to know that the gospel was true. Due to different laws and customs from where they were, they fled Russia, somehow made it to Mexico, and then crossed the border into the US. All so they could experience religious freedom after coming to know that Christ was their Savior. In crossing the border, Andre(dad) and Svetlana (mom) and their son got caught and were sent to detention facilities. Svetlana and her son went to one in another state for a week and Andre went to one for 3 months. Being separated from his family and being put in this facility for months, he was doing some pondering and soul searching and so Andre requested a copy of the Book of Mormon. He said that for 3 months all he did was read that book. He read it 4 or 5 times in the few months he was there, prayed about it, and came out with a solid testimony that the Book of Mormon was true and He wanted to do as it says and be baptized. He reunited with his family and they searched for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the church they knew they had come here to America for so that they could be baptized by the priesthood authority of God into Jesus Christ's church. Fast forward a few weeks and that brings us to when they walked into our church building asking how they can experience baptism for themselves. These 2 are some of the most dedicated followers of Christ I have personally been able to meet, it's amazing to see what they would do for the God that they love. And I'm so excited and happy that after trials and a long journey to find the truth, they will be getting baptized next week! I've often heard it said that "Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of Heaven." This story has caused me to reflect on what I would sacrifice for the gospel and especially how much the Savior sacrificed for us. We are so blessed! There are no words to describe my love for my Savior. I know He lives and loves us more than we can ever comprehend. I'm grateful to be able to help others come to understand this gospel each and every day! I love you all! And shoutout to Chad and Alyssa, Happy wedding week!!!
