Hey everyone!
Okay friends, tender mercy time. On Saturday, we went to the Thurston County Fall Festival and it was amazing. The first vendor we saw was a jewelry booth where a Black Smith was making all sorts of things; we talked to him about his job, how amazing Washington is, where we're from, etc. Then we kept walking around to all the vendors and talking with other people. Everyone kept asking us if we had a booth there, what are name tags were about, if we can wear jewelry, if we can wear lipstick, and so on and so on. It was really cool because as we were walking around talking to people, we were able to dispel myths and show them that we are regular human beings. When we got to the end, Sister Hutchings was feeling hungry and wanted to get some kettle corn. So she told Sister Call and I that she was going to go get some. While she was buying it, a lady and her daughter approached Sister Call and I. It was the Black Smith's wife and daughter! The wife said that her and her daughter had been chasing us down trying to find us! She told us that she is a member, but no longer active in the church. At one point, her nephew was taking the lessons at their house and she really misses the spirit in her home. We asked her where she lived and she lives in our area! The festival was like 15-20 minutes away from our area and she just happens to live in our area! So we got her name and her number and we are going to see her in the next couple weeks :) if we wouldn't have stopped for popcorn, we would have left and never met them. Never deny a Kettle Corn prompting!
The next tender mercy happened while I was on exchanges with Sister Moore! In the morning, we were praying about what to do after knocking 5-7s and we felt prompted to go see a family that's less active-- The Robert's family! We hadn't ever gone to visit them, because they live out in the middle of nowhere at the top of our area. But after 5-7s, we made the trek up to their house. When we got there, the mom and daughter were in tears and the mom said "Did you really just show up randomly to see us?" She was shocked! It turns out that her husband had left her a few days previously and she had no idea where he was at. In the morning, she prayed and asked Heavenly Father to send her any sort of comfort or love because she was deeply hurting. Then knock knock, here we are at her door around 7:15pm. We had no idea about anything that was happening in her life, but God cared enough about her to answer her prayer and provide her with the love and comfort that she needed. Another tender mercy is that my mom had been asking me if I had had the opportunity to play the violin lately. It had been since January that I had played! But Sister Roberts had an extra violin and wanted me to play for her. I had no idea what to say to comfort her, but was able to use music to invite the spirit and express what I couldn't say in words. Music is powerful!
We've been busy busy busy lately! We went on two exchanges this week and have been knocking at the college campuses a lot. It's so much fun to be able to preach the gospel to people that I feel like I can easily relate to. It hasn't been long since I've been a stressed out college student😂
I love my mission and love being able to constantly share what brings me the most joy. Love you all!
Love, Sister Peterson
Sorry for the lack of pictures this week. A guy gave us a bunch of grapes from his backyard while knocking.
