Hey everyone! Happy July!!
This month is going to be the best of the mission I'm sure of it (; Sister York and I are super excited to amp up our American pride this week!
We closed June off by waking up at 4am with an amazing trip to Seattle for Murren to go to the temple!! She is the 17 year old who was just baptized 2 weeks ago. It's crazy to think that a month ago she wasn't even being taught and now here she is going to the temple to do baptisms for her ancestors. God is truly preparing his children and blessing them as they take those steps in faith. We are continuing to work with Murren's younger brothers now and her mom so that they can be baptized too. Eternal Families are in the making!!
We had a super tender mercy this week and were able to experience the joys of Christlike ministering. The other day, Sister York and I were knocking and we knocked into a cute little family, the Eyre's. They are homeless right now, staying in a spare bedroom of a house, and their power has been out for a while now. So the mom, and the two daughters have been eating cold food out of a can and just doing what they can to stay positive and faithful. And at the lowest point of their lives they said, we knocked on their door. We rallied together some members and got them helping the family out and so Sister York and I have been over every day, playing barbies with the little 7 year old, bringing by some food from members, and just simply trying to remind them that God is there. It was the happiest feeling in the world to be able to serve them. One thing that really stood out was that the true gift of service is them receiving. I have without fail always felt the spirit strongest when I am helping a child of God. Grateful to be blessed enough to have opportunities to help others.
I love you all!
Love, Sister Peterson
